What to Expect in the First Few Weeks
Your mouth needs a little time to adjust. Extra saliva and a slightly different way of speaking are both normal at first, and both fade as your muscles and gums get used to the new teeth. Dr. Fort suggests reading out loud at home and starting with soft foods before working back to your usual diet.
Caring for Your Dentures
- Take them out and rinse them after meals.
- Brush them every day with a soft brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner.
- Soak them overnight in a denture solution.
- Skip regular toothpaste. It is too abrasive and scratches the surface.
