Sleep Apnea Can Cause or Contribute To

  • Weight gain not explained by diet or lack of exercise
  • Anxiety, irritability, depression and other mood changes
  • Waking up unrested and feeling tired during the day
  • Morning headaches
  • Trouble concentrating

Who Is at Risk?

People who are overweight, who have had damage to the nose or throat, or who snore heavily are more likely to develop sleep apnea. It can be especially serious for people with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or a previous stroke.

When CPAP Is Not the Answer

Sleep doctors usually prescribe CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), a mask that pushes air into the nose to keep breathing steady through the night. It works for many people, but the machine is bulky and noisy, and some patients sleep worse with it than without it.

Oral Appliance Options

We can help you find a more comfortable solution, such as a mandibular advancement device or a soft tissue repositioning oral appliance. At your consultation we talk about your sleep, your symptoms and which option makes sense for you.
