Your first visit starts with a comprehensive exam. Your doctor will go over your dental and medical history and note any questions or concerns you have.
Many health conditions show up in the mouth and affect oral health, so your medical history is an important part of diagnosing problems with your teeth, gums and mouth.
What to Expect
Your First Visit to Main Street Dental Smiles
We do a thorough exam at your first visit to plan the best route to a healthy mouth and the goals you have for your smile. We will:
- Take full-mouth X-rays to find any current problems and set a baseline for spotting early changes at future visits
- Check the condition and health of your gums
- Examine your teeth for cavities and check the condition of older fillings and crowns
- Do a head and neck exam, including the salivary glands and lymph nodes, to look for swelling or other changes
- Screen for oral cancer and TMJ (jaw joint) problems
- Clean and polish your teeth
Please Bring to Your First Appointment
- Completed new patient forms
- Your insurance card or information
- A list of current medications and medical conditions
- X-rays taken in the last 6 months, if you have them
Insurance
Insurance and Payment
Main Street Dental Smiles accepts all major PPO plans and Medicaid. Call the office to confirm your plan. We work closely with your insurance provider to process claims and help you get the most from your benefits.
Not every procedure or cost is covered by insurance. Any balance your insurance does not pay is the patient’s responsibility, and we offer payment options to help with co-pays and remaining balances.
